Pontchartrain vineyards

studio, fall 2016

This studio project was a redesign of Pontchartrain Vineyards, a small vineyard and winery located in Louisiana.

The design concept took into account arrival to the site, the stages of walking through the vineyard and touring the winery to follow the process of the grapes being made into wine.

The large masonry parallel walls mimic the feeling of walking through rows of the vineyard and allow for a more interesting separation of “back of house” and “front of house” space.

8271 Santa Monica Blvd

studio, Spring 2016

The studio project program was a mixed use residential and retail space on Santa Monica Blvd. in Los Angeles.

The design concept was to front the busy street with a large storefront and then allow the back half of the site to be more open.

The parti was a cut and fill concept. Voids were removed from the large mass of the main building on the boulevard to create large balconies. Those removed masses were placed on the back half of the site to create more housing and work space.
